Living in Marseille

Marseille, everything about this city will remind you of the sun.

The summer cicadas will lull you with their serenades to make your naps sweeter while the singing accents will remind you that you are in Provence. We come here for the good weather which is displayed as well on the azure horizon as on the smile of its inhabitants. This description may sound a little "Marseillais", but it is not so far from reality.

Are you still struggling to understand the Marseilles slang, to know the smallest corners of the old port or to know where to have a good drink? Don't stress, join our community full of ideas and good tips that will help you enjoy the Phocaean city. It's happening here!

I have met more than friends, I have formed a second family in this city where I arrived without knowing anyone. They are there in good times and bad, we have fun, we talk seriously and we build a strong relationship that (I know) will last forever. The people of my colony are now essential to my life (and I miss them when I go away for the weekend :)).

I’ve made some lifelong friends at Colonies! Living here is very similar to my Erasmus experience. There is a real mix of nationalities and cultures and a good sense of camaraderie. It’s been great to have friends just down the hallway as I’ve adjusted to a new city. It was amazing to be able to move in with just a suitcase and have all of the amenities I needed ready to use.

Instead of moving to another apartment as I originally planned, I have just changed studios in the same Colonies residence. It’s the perfect balance between a private space and the opportunity to get to know new people and interact. If you want to see people and connect you can go to the common areas, if you just want to make some tea and lie down on the weekend you can do that as well.

I feel a little older than the other tenants, but I’m almost the same in other aspects. Every week I teach them a new dish and cook for everyone in the house at least once. Colonies is a place where I can share myself and be a part of a group, a part of something! And share food, culture and life experiences with wonderful people.
